Hopefully the monograph, “About Aldo & His Art", has introduced to the reader what will be germane to the various Series' of compositions that will follow. With each original piece the process begins with a sketch that evolves into a larger canvas. The first fifty-two pieces were pictorially challenging yet, intrinsically rewarding. The drawings, thematic templates of how the visual elements would flow and where the focal points would be elaborated, are usually imbued with a modal quality; or mood! During this second improvisational phase, white & black inks are explored to further emphasize the overall movement of the piece and to judiciously eliminate or enhance those areas that need to be balanced; namely the counterpoint and asymmetrical black to white values. Complementary pencil shadings follow. A very important component of every composition is the integration of abstract images and the embodiment of ideas into a unified whole! A lyricism of abstract elements …. An aesthetic of integrated complexity. The final improvisational step is to reproduce each composition onto canvas, paper or metal via the exacting Giclée process of sprayed indelible inks. Affordable, impeccable reproduction on any medium is, I believe, the future of compositions that will bear repeated viewings, over time. These reproductions are meant to be hung, not flipped or traded. Square-canvas pieces allow for eight different positions/perspectives to be enjoyed ...in fact to be visually co-created. Such is the nature of abstract compositions!

I use the word ‘beyond’ as an overarching concept, i.e., the ‘moreness’ that may be experienced by the beholder. In striving to be expressed to the fullest, these compositions need to be re-experienced, re-interpreted. Also, due to their stylistic continuity, they can be displayed in multiple combinations. Any given sketch has its own rhythmic, harmonic and interchangeable possibilities. Over time, by simply noticing or with concentrated examination (abstracting), the value of being ‘Untitled’ will lend itself to personalizing, appreciating and actually re-composing and co-creating every piece. Further elaboration (improvising) of this first Series, which I named 'Black & White Counterpoint', led to multiple Series.' Each new Series will be included into the entire and on-going collection. (see 'Prelude' in Adlib Viewpoints)
"The notion that any experience is simultaneously an expression, and vice versa, is my motivating creative force."
“Each composition has a voice that originates in its making, allowing onlookers the freedom to abstract, co-create and experience aesthetic arousal ...... and to further evoke the engagement of any viewer, to blend their curiosity with a new visual experience; thereby, realizing conceptual possibilities and personal satisfaction."
